Encantamiento speaks of a transformation, of a journey that, although uncomfortable, is necessary and inevitable, of something that breaks and takes us to another place, of emotions that flow in their different states.

 In an effort to understand myself and integrate all my parts, I rediscovered in nature that which makes me unique. The cyclical nature of change, the certainty that everything is always in motion. It was a dream that took me two years to fully understand, to piece together, and to find meaning in.

 Materiality is also part of that journey. I chose to work with three different papers because I needed the medium to complement the emotional atmosphere of the publication: the fragile and transparent nature of the plant-based paper, the classic feel of the artwork, the lustrous quality of the pearlescent paper. Each one supports a part of the journey; it is these different parts that overlap and make us unique.

 Adriana Aisenberg's Dictionary of Certainties and Intuitions defines enchantment as a series of magical procedures to effect a transformation. That idea accompanied me throughout the entire process, like a persistent intuition, like the silent confidence that something was going to change, even without knowing exactly what.

 Enchantment begins by counting on my fingers the things that both frighten and please me. From there, everything opens up to allow something to move, transform, and find another place.
