Me arranqué la cascarita
"Me arranqué la cascarita" is a fanzine with analog photographs and poems. Tiny, like a dream, almost like a sigh. With the intention of materializing the power of the senses, I travel to the sea where the immense becomes a refuge.
Do I pick at the scab from scratching so much because it itches? Or is it an impulse to see what I'm like inside? What color is my flesh? There's something that hasn't healed yet, a wound I linger on, that I play with. I peel back the rough edges to see what bleeds, what shines.

Creative process
"Me arranqué la cascarita" arises from a process of personal experimentation mirroring everything that motivated me in 2021.
Without setting limits, I wanted to experiment with new sizes, papers, and shapes, continuing to search in the material for that sensitive quality that accompanies what is told with photos and words. Adding new challenges, like sewing and trimming each fanzine, embracing the details of the handmade and the imperfect, and also trying to have different papers coexist in the same publication, each telling a different story.
This fanzine has three types of paper. Like a shell that hasn't quite healed, the outside is rough and coarse, like bookcell paper and black and white. If I tear it off too soon, my insides bleed and shine, like glossy paper and color photos.
Without being entirely clear about it at the time, this fanzine launches a series of three publications that communicate with each other through their size, pearlescent paper covers, and binding. * When I Don't Speak Out Loud *, the second in the series, and *Enchantment *, the third and final installment, tell of an inevitable and necessary transformation for moving forward.
